Join a wind band workshop!
Looking to make music in a fun, supportive setting? The Southern Music Project runs wind band workshops throughout the year, led by conductor Russ Young. Each session brings musicians together to rehearse and perform a lively mix of classical favourites and film soundtracks.
Workshops are open to all ages who are comfortable sight-reading and playing in an ensemble. A small fee covers the day, which includes refreshments and a short performance for friends and family. Donations towards the concert and refreshments are always welcome.
What instruments are welcome in a wind band?
Woodwind: Clarinet, Saxophone, Piccolo, Flute, Bassoon, Oboe
Brass: Trumpet/Cornet, French Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba
Percussion: Tuned, drum kit, piano
Strings: Violin, viola, stringed bass
